30-Day Comment Period & Community Meeting on Feb. 18 Set for Lakepointe Development Draft SEIS

On Feb. 2, the city issued a Notice of Availability of the Draft Supplemental EIS for the Lakepointe Development. This notice comes with a 30-day comment period ending on March 4, 2021.

During the public comment period a community meeting will also be held virtually via Zoom at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 18 to help the public learn about and comment on the Draft SEIS. More information on commenting is available on the fact sheet located in the first section of the Draft SEIS found online at www.covingtonwa.gov/Lakepointe.

The Lakepointe Draft Supplemental Planned Action Environmental Impact Statement (Draft SEIS) is available for public review and comment.  The City of Covington encourages public participation and comments on this environmental analyses of proposed amendments to the city’s Comprehensive Plan and Lakepointe Planned Action Ordinance during the 30-day public comment period from February 2 to March 4, 2021.

DOCUMENTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW AT WWW.COVINGTONWA.GOV/LAKEPOINTE

Environmental review is carried out under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Comments may address either the adequacy of the document or the merits of the alternatives or both. You may comment on the Draft SEIS’s methodology, alternatives, elements of the environment, mitigation measures, probably signifi´┐Ż┬cant impacts and potential conditions on any approvals to be considered by the City as well as the components of the proposed Comprehensive Plan amendments. All written comments received on the Draft SEIS during the 30-day comment period will be reviewed and considered in the preparation of the Final Supplemental EIS.
