The City of Covington’s Parks and Recreation Department is now open for registration for Spring and Summer classes and camps. Programs will run from April through August. We encourage participants to register early for a program you would like to join. Please call the Covington Parks and Recreation office at (253) 480-2480 to register for classes. Online registration is also available for most classes.
Daddy Daughter Spring Fling Dance
Fathers and daughter(s) come and enjoy our third annual Daddy Daughter dance! All ages are welcome. Join us for a fun filled evening of dancing, food, and prizes. Grandpas, Uncles, and Big Brothers are welcome too. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help at this event, please call Jaquelyn Ball (253) 480-2412.
Pre-Ballet Ages 4-6 years
This is an introductory class for 4-6 year olds that is full of fun, music and learning. Class will focus on the fundamentals of creative movement and beginner ballet techniques and terminology. Students should bring a water bottle and a smile! Ballet shoes are recommended. Located in Covington Community Room.
Jazz Ages 7-9 years
This is a beginning jazz class for 7-9 year olds. Dancers will learn to properly execute classical and contemporary jazz steps and techniques. They will also train to understand rhythm and musicality. Jazz shoes or dance paws are recommended. Bring lots of water! Located in Covington Community Room.
Dance Team Ages 10-12
Dance team is a fun class for 10-12 year olds involving a variety of dance genres. Dancers will learn ballet, jazz, pom and hip hop techniques, as well as more advanced skills like leaps, jumps, and turns.
RizzKids Dance Fitness Frenzy
Join instructor Daisy Larsen for 40 minutes of wiggling to the best music in American pop culture from jazz to country to disco and hip-hop. Students should wear comfortable clothes, tennis shoes and bring lots of water!
Summer Dance Camp
Come enjoy three days full of fun, music, and dancing! Dancers will learn to properly execute dance technique,skills, and tricks as well as learn cute routines. We will include a variety of dance genres, such as ballet, jazz, pom, and hip hop. Camp t-shirt is included. Parents are invited for a dance showcase on the last day from 1:30-2p.m.
Covington Children's Chorus
Join us for a summer of singing! This session, "Once Upon a Time" will feature songs from Into the Woods, Shrek, and Disney. Kids will learn basic vocal and choral techniques as well as music fundamentals. There will be a concert at the end of the session and opportunities to participate and perform at Covington KidsFest. Registration fee includes a choir t-shirt.
Musikgarten Family Music for Toddlers
Together we’ll sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments, all activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement. Additionally, you’ll receive a wonderful CD, a parent activity book, and an instrument or scarf to use at home for more time together. Musikgarten Preschool Music: Cycle of Seasons
This class was developed to build attention and self-expression with activities include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement and storytelling.The Cycle of Seasons nurtures your growing child’s ability to use language and participate in dramatic play within a musical context. Fun family packets including music CDs are included for use at home to increase family involvement in the learning process. Parenting the Love and Logic Way
Five weekly 1.5-hour sessions give you techniques, exercises, and tips for parenting kids of all ages - infants through teens. In the course you will learn how to: put an end to whining and arguments; reduce the chances of power struggles; help kids learn to solve their own problems; gain respect and cooperation by sharing control; learn to stay calm when you are frustrated or angry; and create effective consequences. This program is appropriate for parents, teachers and caregivers.

Inspired by NASA and Star Wars, our Space Adventures program is packed full of models that will make the imagination blast off! Each day kids will learn about reallife space exploration and build models related to NASA space programs. In addition, the program also includes LEGO Star Wars themed models and group challenges.
After School Program: Horizon Elementary Mining and Crafting
Steve is jumping for joy as he introduces the newest members of his Minecraft world. Spring Break Bricks 4 Kidz Camp: Bat League with Lego Bricks
The good guys will ride into action as you build motorized models of the bat hero’s speedy vehicle and bat girl’s sleek motorcycle. Keep the bat light searching for the evil jokester’s motorized low rider vehicle cruising through the city streets as well. Send the bat hero swinging on his grappling hook technic model from one skyscraper to the next as he fights crime with his trusty super sidekick. Use your imagination, building skills, and crime-fighting passion in this thrilling camp of bat heroes and villains.
Bricks 4 Kidz Summer Camps
All Bricks 4 Kidz Summer Camps are held in the Covington City Hall Community Room. All campers will take home a mini figure and camp t-shirt. Please bring a light snack.
Safe at Home
This two hour course is designed for children ages 8-11 to learn to be aware of potential dangers when left home alone. Come learn how to be responsible and safe in any situation. We will cover family communication, first aid, internet, gun, phone, fire, and door safety. Located at the Covington City Hall Community Room.
Boys and girls, come for a day of fun while earning your Super Sitters certificate. This class will cover leadership and the business of babysitting, basic care for children, understanding children of different age groups, safety, and first aid. Bring a sack lunch and snack to class. Located at the Covington City Hall Community Room.
Seattle Astronomical Star Party
The community is invited to sail the Milky Way with local astronomers who will provide star gazing expertise along with access to telescopes, binoculars and star charts. Explore the Moon, the planets, constellations, stars, clusters and galaxies that each season’s night scape presents. Dress warmly and bring a small flashlight (red filters are provided). Children with parental supervision are welcome and astronomers will bring the stars alive for small ones. Inclement weather (more than a few isolated clouds) will likely cause cancellation of the Star Party. Notice would be posted at the Seattle Astronomical Society website www.seattleastro.org. Otherwise, just look to the sky before you come! Located at Covington Community Park. There is no registration necessary- just come join the party. Star parties are free and open to the public.

This is an aerobics class for everyone, from beginners to regular attendees. This class is ladies only and will have a focus on the basic Latin rhythms of Zumba. It will still be a fun and up-tempo workout but with an emphasis on mastering primary steps before adding to and building on them. By the end, you’ll be having fun getting a cardio workout with your own fancy footwork. Wear low traction shoes and bring a bottle of water.
EBI Basketball Skills Class
This class is targeted for players that are at the beginning to early stages of learning the game of basketball. EBI will work with the players on the fundamentals of the game to learn skills such as passing, ball handling and shooting.
Eastside Basketball Institute Summer Camps

Kidz Love Soccer
This program provides children with the positive framework whereby all players are nurtured, built up and developed as young athletes. A typical class includes age-appropriate soccer activities: warm up, skill introduction, games and instructional scrimmages always conducted in a non-competitive, recreational format. Classes are located at Covington Community Park.
Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer
As you and your child participate in fun, age-appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor skills and socializing skills. The fun happens on the field, and in Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer parents are a part of the action! Each child receives a Kidz Love Soccer jersey!
Tot and Pre-Soccer
Little tykes will enjoy running and kicking just like the big kids! Children will learn the basic techniques of the game while building self-esteem and learning to follow instructions in a nurturing teaching environment. Soccer 1: Techniques & Teamwork

Spring Break Soccer Camp
Each day we’ll practice skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, receiving, etc. Days end with a scrimmage and fun games. All skill levels are welcome and campers will receive a t-shirt. Dress for the weather and bring a lunch, a snack and a waterbottle. Shin guards are required.
Atavus Rugby Camp
Games such as ultimate rugby and capture the flag will be partnered with drills to allow players to expand on a variety of skills including catch-pass ability, leadership, evasion, decision-making, and confidence in contact all while having fun through play. Sessions are divided into segments each day by skill and/or ability. No experience necessary. Players will receive a camp t-shirt and wristband.
Kentwood High School Summer Track Camp
Campers will be taught the basic components of track and field and will be exposed to all event areas. Camp is taught and ran by Kentwood High School’s head track and field coach as well as assistant coaches and former athletes. Parents are encouraged to come on Thursday for the track meet. Camp t-shirt only guaranteed if registered by June 30. Daily snacks will be provided.
Xtreme Speed Clinic
Participants will receive hands on teaching on not only how to properly run, but how to develop speed to apply to all sports. This clinic is ran by Coach Rob Thomas USATF Level 2 certified coach with other certified coaches and nationally ranked athletes. Each participant receives an extreme speed t-shirt.

DAY 1 - Bellevue Challenge & Aerial Obstacle Course
Thrills await you at the Bellevue High Ropes Course. Experience the aerial obstacle course where teams spend an extended amount of time up high! Raise your selfconfidence and push your physical and mental limits.
DAY 2 - Gene Coulon Park
We start day two with a service project at Gene Coulon Park. After beautifying the park, we’ll tour the lake and go on an interpertive botanical walk. To end the day you can swim, paddle board, play frisbee, tennis, horeshoes, volleyball, or just relax and enjoy the beach.
DAY 3- Black Diamond Park
Try your hand at archery, a climbing wall, and a rapelling wall. We’ll have fun doing arts and crafts and end the day with an awesome team competition.
DAY 4 - Blake Island State Park
After a 45-minute ride on Argosy Cruise lines from Seattle to Blake Island, we will go on an island hike and search for buried treasure! We will end the day playing and relaxing on the beach.*We will be meeting at 7:30 a.m. on this day.
DAY 5 - North Bend
We will head to North Bend to hike the beautiful Denny Creek Trail. Afterwards we will tour the Cedar River Watershed and go berry picking. We will bring our berries back to city hall and learn to cook and prepare for our family party where families can join us for games and a slideshow from 4-5 p.m. to celebrate our awesome week!
